A good place to have a drink especially after a long walk in the mountain on a cold day. The pub is warm and inviting with that classic pub feel. Great views of the snow capped mountain if you sit by the window. What draws your eye when you enter the pub is the huge fireplace and the crackling sound of the burning wood. Sat beside the fire while having a drink and was feeling warm and toasty in minutes. Reasonably priced drinks and a good selection to choose from.

We went across from the Chateau and had a great time. It was pretty busy with a crowd in for the rugby but our group of 10 was easily seated. Food choices were limited for the vegetarians but everything was really tasty with impressive portion sizes. I have to say the staff were amazing. With 1 person front of house she was attentive and welcoming to customers, kept the queue down at the bar, kept the tables cleared and delivered food. All with a smile. Much higher standard of service than the chateau across the road.

The other weekend my partner and two children went to the Tussock Bar for dinner. I’d definitely recommend it! The service was awesome, the guy that served us was really friendly and nothing was a problem. Very easy to chat to. The food was great too, for us and the kids. Plus it looked the the chef cared and took pride in what he did. It wasn’t just another bowl of fries, but a well seasoned, crispy, yum, big bowl of fries! And so was the rest of the food. Perfect for families and to take a step away from the chateau. Easy stroll down the road.

Absolutely amazing place to go for a meal. The Pizza was quite easily one of the best I have ever had, all the other food was very nice and well seasoned. All at a very reasonable price as well! Can't complain about anything.

Typical pub food, with generous portions. We visited on a quiet evening before Easter weekend - their Google opening times said they were closed, so don't be shy to stop in and double check - you might just find them open! Family friendly with board games to use, 2 pool tables and an old air hockey table (the scoring on the machine seemed to be a bit off, which meant a longer game, but I'm pretty sure I got robbed of a win!) The staff were friendly and helpful.

We had dinner and drinks here last night 24 October 2017. Simple menu we only waited ten minutes for our food. The bar will run a tab , lovely big fire going no complaints, I loved the cider on tap appreciated the full glasses of wine and full glass of cider. I think if they continue with the great service and lovely big pieces of fish we had last night I can say other people must be very hard to satisfy. Recommended.

Food was amazing! The guys in the kitchen done a great job! The whole team was friendly! Yes it is expensive here and I do think they should consider changing prices but all in all very happy! Thank you :)

Needs some TLC was okay but we just had a stubbie (spirit) $12.00.... one person in kitchen one person on bar ...If they got busy there would be a wait...bit disappointed just because it's a bit dated...Good views though

Stayed at the Chateau for 3 nights and went to Tussock a few times, food consistently very good and service outstanding. For an afternoon drink with quality bar snacks this is far superior to the Chateau.
