This place is just incredible! We drove all the way from Howick just to try out these pasties and they are perfect! Sean not only makes the party himself but the lard that goes into them! These are simply the best pasties I’ve ever tried and definitely worth the drive!
I’m British so I do cringe a bit paying $8 for a pasty but they are yum. Nice little location near the wharf on a sunny day there’s a little picnic table to sit out and enjoy the scenery.
The place to visit next time you're going to Shakespeare Park!
These pastries are so delicious. Talked to the owner and chef and he explained that he uses purely butter and lard (which he makes himself) to make the pastries. Had the classic beef Cornish which is a tasty savory. I wasn't sure what these were supposed to taste like but it was quite peppery with potatoes chunks in it. The stunner was the onion and cheese (18 month aged cheddar supposedly) and that was the pie that won my heart. Soft, cheesy and flavorsome.
This place is hard to find but if you follow the pink signs it is well worth it!!
Definitely the best pasties I have ever tried!!
Pastry is a dream to eat, buttery and cooked to perfection and the contents of the pasty are also beautifully cooked and definitely packed well.
Customer service is fantastic with Sean being very pleasant to talk to, I really just have nothing negative to say about The Kitchen Door!
Would definitely recommend this place to everyone in the area and to make the drive up to Hobbs Wharf! 😊
Yes. All I can say. I grew up in Cornwall and these are proper Oggy pasties.
We venture up here for special occasions as they never disappoint!
The meat, vegetarian and cheese & onion pasties are on point. Perfectly cooked, buttery, peppery goodness.
The scotch eggs were delightful and I have it on good authority that the pork pies are amazing. So want to try the Scotch pies but they sold out last time!
If you want a taste of home or are keen to try the finest of British cuisine..this is the place!
Charming pastry stop passionately baking top notch pork pies, pasties & Scotch eggs - UK style. 🥧🇬🇧 They are very good - but for someone who has travelled across Cornwall taste testing - the pasty pastry is a little thick. Best in this hemisphere though I’m sure! There is lovely outdoor seating and incredible staff. There are no dairy free food options sadly - but you gotta use legit ingredients to get legit results.
Having moved from Hobbs Wharf Markets to Gulf Harbour even better to get to 👍 Food is awesome. Sean's Homemade Lemonade is very very nice and a must try along with the Fruit Cake Ice Cream - WOW, Sean has hit that one on the head especially if you're a connoisseur of fruit cake. Sean roasts his own coffee and having tried a long black it was very nice indeed. 👍😀
Just stumbled across this place after following a sign trail from Shakespeare park for Cornish pasties.
It was a real treat, we had a few different things to try, and the coffee was also very good.
We will definitely be going back to try more goodies.
It’s also on the marina so a lovely view too.
Thank you for staying open in what must be a very difficult time 👍🏻🍸
Saw the reviews and decided to give it a go and I’m so glad I did. This has to be pastry in all of Auckland. I had the lamb pie and it was absolutely divine. I would highly recommend to visit when in the area. Keep up the great work guys I’ll be back again soon 😋😋
We are tasting our way through NZL real fruit ice cream and this one is definitely up there. There is a good range of flavours with some unique creations like caramelised peach, which I haven’t seen anywhere else and would need to try it one day! You can also pick a sauce to go on your ice cream and it comes with a shortbread surprise 😊 – nice touch. We haven’t tried the pies or pastries, but there was a good range with sweet and savoury options all looking appetising. We decided to stop over on our way back from the Shakespear Regional Park. The Kitchen Door is located in a nice spot and while you are indulging in your treat of choice you can check out all the boats in the harbour. The owner is very nice and welcoming, with great stories to tell including his career in London working at The Savoy!!! When you decide to pop over you know you will be in good hands.
Found this little place while in Gulf Harbour. Saw a sign, pork pies and Cornish pasties. We had to find out more !
Beautiful pastry, the best we have found here in Auckland.
Definitely be back, try the scotch eggs and many more delights on offer.
Well worth the visit.
Follow the signs for cornish pastriws and be patient. Its almost at the end of the wharf. If you go there you wont miss it.
+ pastries really good
+ very good pie (blackberry, they didnt have raspberry at the time)
+ my gf enjoyed coffee there
+ lovely lady and staff
- a little bit pricey, but worth the money (spent around 36 for two pastries, pie and coffee
- dont accept paywave or visa so be prepared ideally with cash or eftpos.
A map of all cornish places in New Zealand is really nice touch. Gonna visit some of them for sure!
And nice mosquito net at the window preventing insects to fly into your freshly made pastry.
Amazing British food. But tasty no matter where you're from.
Tried the new yourkshire pudding wrap... OMG! Absolutely delicious. Roast dinner with none of the fuss!
Had the veggie Cornish pasty. Tastes like the ones my Mum would make (minus the beef of course) for my Dad who was from Cornwall and who had exacting standards when it comes to pasties. Highly authentic/ recommended.
I am not someone who eats beef 🥩 and mostly avoid it. Based on recommendation I tried the Cornish pasties today and must say it was worth breaking my no beef diet. Excellent pasties.
I really enjoyed the Cornish pastie. I have never tried such a yummy thing before. The fruit pies are yum too because the pastry is several textures like crunchy crust and thick with sweet bits but not all full of sugar, margarine and msg stuff like the bakeries' ones. I like Kitchen Door ones because seems traditional and is wholesome to dig into. The regular lunch size meat pie was probably a bit on small side but the pastie was a good feed almost on its own.
Pasties 5 stars.
Coffee 5 stars.
Fruit pies 5 stars
Glad I took the detour to visit this place. Will make the trip again to try more of the food.
Thanks guys
Excellent service from a personable gentleman. The food was exactly what we expected and wanted, with pricing that felt perfectly reasonable. That in and of itself is pretty rare! We will be back.
Delicious home made pork pies and pasties. Well worth the visit if your in the area and if your not...you have to make the trip. Sean (owner) is lovely, chatty and friendly.👍😋
Quality pasties and great service. The pies are better than the garbage the bakeries put together with all the gelatin filler and lack of meat. Highly recommend. I will be back!
As well as the top notch pasties Sean has the best apple and blackberry pie in town.
A great spot for traditional British pie! Love their Hot Cornish pie and the fruit pie. I saw a lot of people recommended the Cornish pie, but I’d say the fruit pie is also a must try!
Delicious pasty’s!!
Well worth the trip to try these out
We finally got round to following the signs to the Cornish pasties and were not disappointed! Such a good find, Sean was lovely to talk to and his products are well worth the drive! I was very pleasantly surprised to find he also offered gluten free options! Coffee was great to! We will definitely be coming back to bring a batch home with us!
