I love the Fat Camel. We go there regularly because the food is delicious and healthy; I had chicken recently (which was fantastic) forgoing my favourite their falafel. The atmosphere is friendly and casual; I love the vibe of the cafe and sincerely recommend you pop in day or night.

Great food & service! So nice to be able to eat straight off the menu for a change, as a coeliac its a pleasure to eat food as it was intended by the chef!

We stopped off at The Fat Camel yesterday afternoon and had a delicious deconstructed spicy chicken salad. The owner was so helpful, friendly and accommodating; we will most definitely be back. Due to dietary requirements they were able to offer GF options and my blueberry friand with whipped cream on the side was delicious. My husband had the best baklava ever! Our coffee was superb. Well done; it is rare to find a place where everything is perfect. Would love to see you open a Fat Camel in Mangawhai! Thanks so much.

The Fat Camel is situated on Quality St in Whangerei. If you want to smooth your jewish soul this is the place. Each dish has that extra dimension of flavour that sings out "this is the real deal". The dolmades, the shakshuka and the baklawa. Just made me long to go to Tel Aviv and soak up the sun. I love it. I had lunch and dinner there and will go back for breakfast in the morning. Shalom.

Brunch today was courtesy of Fat Camel Israeli Café and it was delicious 😋. Had an Israeli coffee (a 1st for me), and it was lovely. Brunch was Shakshuka, absolutely scrumptious and an Iced mocha. Such a beautiful café, great atmosphere, very busy with lots of people stopping in, plenty of seating inside and out. The service was excellent. I really enjoyed my Israeli experience, and I'm so glad I found this Café, thks Google. If you're in Whangārei do stop by. You'll not only enjoy the experience but really love the food too.

We had the chicken pita pocket and smoked salmon bagel. Chicken shawarma pita pocket was particularly delicious and flavourful, generous portion (though more hummus would have been wonderful). Friendly staff and good service, highly recommend to anyone coming to Whangarei!

I have eaten loads of shwarma in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv - the chicken shwarma pita pocket at the Fat Camel is right at the top as a bona-fide contender for the "most flavoursome chicken shwarma" category. It's not cheap by any means, but the quality of the marinade they coat the chicken pieces in is most certainly worth the price! Maximize your dining pleasure : dine-in and slowly chew each mouthful to savour the layered complexity of sour cream, veggies and meat, encapsulated by the jus-absorbing pita. טעים ! A picture paints a thousand words - see attached photos uploaded with this review :)

I am glad I found this little busy cafe hidden in a lane, food on the menu look good with some healthy option, like vegetarian and gluten free. Quite big portion, but delicious. You should give it a try if you are in Whangarei, strongly recommend. Service is good too!

We stumbled upon this little gem by accident. It was well worth it. The dishes are phenomenal. It gets quite busy and given that it's a wee little place seating can be a mission. Service is great. It's mostly Cafe food but excellent if you want to give Israeli food a taste.
