Such a cosey vibe here got the little gas fire going and the staff are friendly ☺️ would probably recommend booking if you have more than two of you, we arrived shortly before lunchtime and most tables were already reserved. Overall I give it around 6/10

When you think tavern, this is what I pictured. Nothing fancy, good staff and awesome food. Burger was hearty, pizzas were loaded with toppings, staff friendly. Will come back in the summer, great views.

We had a joint Birthday here, 6 and 34, the staff were amazing, the food was fantastic as usual and of course the views and play ground were well used. Even the tables around us helped sing Happy Birthday. Thanks again to the team for accommodating GF/dairy free options

Consistently good food, fast and friendly service, reasonable prices and lots of options for kids, vegetarians, adults, etc. Amazing setting looking out over Whangarei harbour, indoor and outdoor seating and a pirate ship for the kids to play on! Love this place and continue to go back, highly recommend going here!

Such an incredible location and great food. The staff are very hands-off for weekday lunch which I quite like but others might not. The decor is a bit dated though.

Great service! Quick, friendly and top class food. I got the salt and pepper squid, one of the best I’ve had ever. Nice chilled cider on tap, so all the ticks for me. Breath taking views matched with a really relaxed atmosphere and spacious garden. Highlights apart from the obvious for me was being dog friendly and having staff that wanted to say hello to him and give him rubs haha. Can’t wait to go back.

Food is good, stuff were nice, but better not to go by yourself, because they expect you to grab cutlery and napkins by yourself, which I couldn’t since the seagulls stared at my food all the time. I ended up acting like I was an angry customer by yelling excuse me to a waiter who was far from me so I can get cutlery and eat like a proper human. And glad I always have some napkins in my hand bag.

Great pub-style restaurant with beautiful views over the water that you can enjoy when the weather is good... if the weather is not so good they have some awnings that protect you from the wind and rain and only slightly spoil the view... but it's better to enjoy the food without the wind blowing your hair into your face or rain watering down your drinks. The food is flavorful and good portion sizes, especially the Crispy Cauliflower with Sriracha Mayo...it was large and scrumptious and too good to even think about stopping to take a photo! We also really enjoyed the Chicken and Feta stack which provided magnificent taste explosions with every bite of grilled chicken, feta and beetroot relish! The Olives and garlic pizza board added a lovely familiar flavor and the Karaage chicken finished off our tasting expedition with the perfect crunch and Asian tang. I will be dreaming of imitating the Crispy Cauliflower for years to come and insist on another visit when in the area again.

Parua Bay Tavern is a great spot for a cold one and a nice meal with seating both inside and outside over looking the water and the boats zooming around. Awesome to relax in the sunshine and watch the day disappear. Pool table to knock afew balls around. Parking on both sides of the road. Well worth stopping in after a day at the beach.

If you are in the area, Must visit place. Great views, friendly service and can enjoy your choice of good food and beer. If you in Whangarei it may be 30 min drive but worth it. I love these country side places.

Love everything about this tavern. Great place to pop in for a yum pizza and beer actually any meals and drinks. We enjoyed an excellent cappucino here as wel. Beautiful close sea views and a short, picturesque drive from Whangarei City heading out to Whangarei Heads and excellent beaches.. Lots of comfy indoor and outdoor seating. Honestly what's not to love about this place! Maybe a shortage of 'by the door' parking but there's ample just across the road.
