We had Sunday lunch, and we were surprised to be able to find a seat as this is a very popular eatery. Right on the main drag between the Regent and the top of Bank St. Parking is on street. Great menu and well presented food. Portions are a good size. Pleasant team. Fair prices. Nice environment.

The meal I had was yellow curry prawns, and it was great, but hopefully, more prawns in it next time. Pad Tai was great, according to family. Chicken fried rice is also recommended by family. Lovely staff always

Great cosy little restaurant! Had dinner here the other night and it was beautiful, presentation and taste 10/10. Will definitely be back for more! Friendly staff and the prices are cheap compared to other Thai restaurants.

Whangarei has great Thai restaurants, but the Whang Thai is as good if not better than the competition. It is an intimate restaurant with attentive staff. The food tastes fresh and full of flavour, and a good choice of dishes. We decided to try a selection of entrees instead of having a main, and the dishes were perfect, could not be improved. Love that they serve coconut rice as well. We will be back.

Wow! Friendly, fast service, delicious food! Larb Gai is our usual order, but we saw the Larb Snapper & had to try it. It was amazing! Add some spicy fried rice, a cup of Tom Yum soup, some wine = fabulous dinner!!

Meals perhaps a little too spicy, should have ordered "mild". My mistake. Otherwise flavour absolute devine. Didn't really need desert but couldn't resist.

The most authentic and tasty Thai food in Whangārei, with very reasonable prices and generous portion sizes. Having lived in Thailand for two years, I know what to compare with! Nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Wonderful little place, with the most awesome food and service. I've eaten a lot of Thai food around the world, but would it hard to top this quality. The stir fried ginger prawns and the coconut rice were my favourites. Larbert Ghai was super too.

Had lunch at Whang Thai Restuarant 150 Bank Street (09)9889404. A fresh and clean atmosphere when entering the restaurant. Lovely approachable staff that were attentive. Beautiful lunch time menu. I must do in your lunch hour.

Delicious food, friendly service. One of the youngsters are a little shy which may seem rude but she is actually very friendly as the evening progresses. Great prices and I have tried many dishes, all if which have been great!!

I had the takeaway green curry. Be mindful that the spice levels for the curries seem to be the ‘Thai’ spice levels rather than the ‘European’ spice levels so to speak, I had mild and it seemed like a medium to me. If you like loads of vegetables in your meal then this is the place for you. I didn’t think it was any different to the other Thai places in Whangarei but it was definitely great value, for $20 you can get a green curry that can probably feed two people reliably.
