Awesome Thai family restaurant, staff very friendly and helpful with good service, food so yummy different kinds of Thai dishes.
Without a doubt, one of the most heart warming Thai curries we have had. Ordered a few times on Uber eats and every time it’s consistently good, warm and extremely well spiced. Fairly large size rice portions, just enough to soak up the juicy curry and a very decent portion of meat. Would highly recommend, each and every time for any local.
This place used to be called Uncle Thai few years ago before the name was changed to Tuk Tuk Thai, then the current owner (who is also the main Chef) bought the place and operates under the name “Phuket Thai” just last year.
The foods and its flavour are similar to the hotel standard because the chef used to work at the hotels in Thailand, especially if you ask for an authentic Thai hot! I am originally from Thailand so I can be a bit fussy and usually never return again if I got serve the sugary curry which sadly most Thai places do. They assume Kiwi prefer sweet taste so they have to add extra spoon of sugar in the meal.
It is very cosy for the seating, the price is reasonable and cheaper than most formal Thai restaurant that require table reservation, no alcohol drink serve there but it is BYO. You can expect to see those famous Thai main dishes on the menu such as stir fry cashew nuts with meat and vegetables, green/red/massaman curry or duck curry, stir fry noodle like Pad Thai and noodle soup like Laksa. My favorite dish is stir fry seafood with curry paste (serve with steamed rice)
I live closer to the other Thai shop (The Taste Thai), like literally 5 mins walk and I used to buy meals there sometimes, but lately I prefer to walk a bit further to have the food at Phuket Thai instead. It’s just that the menu’s variety/choices and consistency of flavour is rather authentic as well as being more valuable for the money in my opinion.
Recommended if you don’t care too much about the ambience but quality of foods and authentic Thai flavour. It is very casual and more like a takeaway place than a proper restaurant.
