I googled this place when I visit to CBD. It was holiday season so every places were quite. The food that I ordered looks really nice and delicious. 😋 It was hard to find a “pane pasta” in New Zealand, and I finally got a chance to try, which was nice. I love to eat bread with dipping pasta sauce, and “seafood mentaiko cream spaghetti” was really yam(a little bit more salty than pane pasta, but it was good to dip bread). I want to come again here next time!
The restaurant is visible from Aotea square on the corner of the Metro building. Keep an eye out for the neon sign.
the menus is split into three different sections, pasta, breakfast and pizza. There was a menu on each table when we sat down, there is also one at the front counter. Once ready you have to head up to the counter to order. There is also a toilet code at the counter which is for the shared toilets for the building.
i got the seafood mentaiko creamy spaghetti and a friend got the pane pasta, carbonara inside a bread bowl. I quite liked the mentaiko spaghetti. Creamy and salty so it was very delectable. The pan fried seafood over the pasta was well made and very tender. The carbonara was also quite tasty but I thought that the bread was a bit stale, particularly the crust so it wasn't that nice to eat. It might have been nicer to eat if the bread bowl was toasted. The creamy sauce soaked into the bread and that was quite nice to eat.
I thought it was quite a nice place for some tasty and interesting pasta. It was also not too expensive, most items under $20 with decent portions.
Such an ideal place for a light meal! My brother enjoys this place a lot and I took my parents here for brunch as well. Albeit the carbonara was a bit under seasoned but everything tasted great. I truly love how they prepare their eggs here and they toast the bread really nicely. My dad really enjoyed his bolognese and my brother also really loved his steak sandwich. Definitely a go to place
