A group of girlfriends have been going there on a Friday evening for drinks and a nibble or two. A stunning place and a view second to none. I wish I had known about it being open earlier in the summer. Very excited to be walking down again this evening, we would love to see more interesting platters but I am sure they are working on this.
A great spot to meet friends escpecially if you can walk home!
The new (to me) arrangement of furniture and decor inside is pretty good. The menu - well, I haven't got past the Salmon frittata, fries and salad- excellent and reasonably priced considering the quality.
Two problems: they still haven't sorted the ventilation in the ladies' loo (the window needs a ladder to open), and the "ambience". Personally I find the outside ambience of the sea, the breeze/wind and sun all I need or want.
Inside.. there is apparently, a strict law carved in stone that THERE MUST BE MUSIC, otherwise known as "ambience" or "atmosphere".
I don't mind quiet music but this is too loud for me. On one day recently, the music was off for at a least an hour and no-one fainted. Conversations were being held in quiet and comfortable peace, and it was most enjoyable. However, an encounter with the Manager resulted in an almost unpleasant exchange in which she asserted that EVERY CAFE IN THE CITY has "ambience".
Now this is not true and it not a given that people can't eat without music preventing them from hearing the conversation they are having. Some of us have hearing issues which make background music just too much to bear.
This is a lovely cafe in a lovely setting and deserves its popularity. But perhaps they could have "ambience-free" hours for those of us who prefer our food and conversation at a normal level? If this were tried, there would be loads of oldies converging, I am sure!
Great location with a good view. Good selection of food. Cafe has all the amenities and playground and pool nearby.
