If you find yourself coming to this place, expect a warm Filipino welcome! The staff had big smiles on their faces and they were able to elaborate what was on the menu.
I love the comfortable ambiance and the sitting arrangement makes it easy to navigate the place without crashing onto someone else’s elbow if you go to the loo.
The food choices were amazing and made me miss home. The distinct Filipino flavours were enhance in every dish. My favourite was the batchoy, which is a noodle soup with crispy pork pieces and spinach. It truly reminded me of my hometown.
Sari-sari Filipino Kitchen is a highly recommended dine-in spot in Christchurch.
Visiting Christchurch for the first time and was craving some Filo food tonight, couldn’t be bothered going out in the cold so I decided to order some via Uber Eats. I was so happy to see there’s 1 resto serving filipino food!
I had the Chicken Inasal with Garlic Rice, Atchara and Sinamak, and the Ube Pudding. What can I say? It was absolutely amazing!!! Their food brought me back to my home country, such authentic flavours. Chicken was perfectly cooked! Rice was beautiful and it was also a perfect portion for dinner. I had the Ube Pudding - I must say this is the best ube flavoured dessert I have had in NZ. The flavours were there exactly as they would taste like in the Philippines, but this was served with a twist. Loved it! I would probably recommend maybe adding or using sago/pearls instead of the nata.. it might work better for texture (or maybe that’s just my preference haha) but overall I loved it! No faults at all I must say. Food was served hot and fresh even if it was delivered from 10mins away.
Also I would like to comment on their great service, there was even a personalised little note on my order. Such a thoughtful little act. Thanks and kudos to the Sari-sari Team! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try authentic Filipino food, or is just missing a taste of home (like me) :)
*I didn’t get to take any more photos of my food because I was too hungry and just started eating! Whoops.
Hidden gem. Highly recommended. Husband and I ordered chicken Inasal (charcoal grilled chicken skewer)& side Pandesal (Filipino bun). I ordered Bicol Express (crispy pork in spicy coconut based curry) and a side bowl of soup. We both enjoyed the main meat dishes but not very much the sides of buns and soup. Soup was bland and plain. For $4, I wouldn't order again. Two small Pandesal buns was$3. Not worth that. Waitresses were friendly and attentive. We'll come back to try other food on the menu.
