Albar is probably the best craft beer bar in Dunedin, as it has a unique atmosphere besides a wide range of domestic and especially imported beers. Also being very close to the Octagon, it's just a stone's throw away from many restaurants and nightclubs.

However a couple of things to note are firstly that Albar is simultaneously a popular haunt and very small. This means it can easily get crowded and noisy. People also often smoke outside, which is off-putting to a nonsmoker like me.

Nice little bar. Pot of mussels was tasty, but mussels were tiny. Tried their Salted Caramel Whiskey - Jury still out on that one, I enjoyed it, but wouldn’t get another. Great staff, nice selection of whiskey
