Late hour opening Cafe in Hamilton
Great place. Good long hours with good atmosphere. Nice arrangement of seatings but not enough parking.
Tried their pressed juice, smoothie and slices raw food slices. Smoothie was just average, nothing stood out, juice didnt taste like pressed juice, more like just bottled juice. Slices were pretty average too, I liked the passion fruit one.
However, all these average food and drinks will be good food and drinks if you visit this place after few drinks at the bar!! Because this place opens till late night!!
It’s rare to find late night opening cafes in Hamilton, and comparing this cafe with late noght opening cafes in Auckland this place is so much better than most Auckland Cafes.
I’m keen to try this place more often as it’s probably one of the only option.
Growing up in the Tron, I’ll never say that Hamilton was a place that served world-class coffee. This sentiment of mine has been challenged recently due to the growing ‘Coffee Culture’ in Hamilton. Coffee Culture had been listed on a few articles and blogs already as one of those establishments that have been at the forefront of that change.
Located relatively close to my family home, I decided to try Coffee Culture. Looking at the café from afar it feels more like a restaurant than a café. Its layered brick structure and squared windows giving the impression of a Lone Star Steakhouse. Coming inside the building, I liked how much wood there was inside, giving a more familiar and relaxing feel. There’s definitely character here, one side of the café had cubicle type sofas and the other side large tables for bigger groups.
Coming in on a Saturday it was fairly busy but the three ladies working seemed to have things under control and they looked in sync with each other. I ordered myself an Irish Mint Latte and Raspberry Hazelnut Dacquoise. It’s awesome that they provide a variety of flavors for their coffees, my Irish Mint Lattee was superb as there was just enough sweetness with a lasting mint flavor. I ordered the cake based on another reviewer and I concur with the statement made, the raspberry combined fantastically with the white chocolate and hazelnut. The texture of cream which was soft and smooth worked well with the nuts. I did wonder though if the bottom was a little bit underbaked because the cake slice was a little lope sided which signaled to me like the base wasn’t strong enough.
Overall, the versatility of this café is great because you can come here and have a cuppa while reading a book/newspaper or you can come in as a group. There is a colorful selection of flavors for your coffee for those wanting to be a bit more adventurous with their taste buds.
A few things to note, Coffee Culture is located right next to the Claudelands main roundabout which can get a little noisy, it can also mean that finding a park could be difficult.
Showstopper: Different variety of coffee such as the Irish Mint Latte.
Overall Grade: A-
I only only been here for a coffee, it was rich and creamy! Their cafe looks so welcoming. Will hopefully be back soon to try the food! I luckily got a park however I can imagine that it'll be difficult to when they're busy!
