My breakfast was really good and original! Coffee was amazing, but a little bit of attitude from the waiter staff! Smoothie was really fresh and tasty... Nothing as using real fruits for it! I wish my dish was a little bit bigger, because the lunar a stack with bacon was yummy! I would probably come back !!! Nice work guys!
In amongst the melee that consist the cafes along the Mount's Marine Parade, sits one gem in the middle. Often recommended by locals, and apparently the place to go and be seen at, this place has the right mix of style, informality and great food to appeal to more than just us unqualified amateur diners. I had a Swiss omelette (with chorizo?) not entirely sure what was Swiss about it, but it did the trick. It is limited with space so might be hard to find a table at peak times, but the cabinet food looks sensational, just take away....!
I love coming here for brunch/lunch after I’ve been for a walk at the mount with my mum. It’s a great place to eat if you’re feeling like something fresh and healthy. I’ve been here several times now. So their menu may have changed. I’ll list the meals I’ve had here below:
Salmon Asian salad: This was from their cabinet. It included red and yellow peppers, rice noodles, purple cabbage, salmon and cashew nut. It also came with a sweet dressing, but I had it on the side. It was a nice light and fresh meal!
-My mum had their chicken bun that was in front of their counter. She said it was nice, but the bun was really hard and stale. We thought it might of been left out for a while.
Salmon and avocado sushi: They were selling a plate of sushi in their cabinet. I love avocado and salmon sushi, so this was perfect for me! I got to choose how many pieces I wanted too! I also asked for a side of their pearl couscous, feta and roast vegetable salad. The sushi was so fresh and tasty! It contained more filling than rice, which is how I like it! The salad was nice too, but I think next time I’ll just have more sushi
.
-My mum had the chicken rice paper wrap. It was quite a big fat wrap! She enjoyed it, but found it quite hard to eat.
Energiser stack: This was my first meal off their menu. It was a well-deserved meal, after running up the mount with my dad that morning. This dish consisted of 2 pieces of seeded toast, hummus, avocado, spinach, beetroot, carrot, a poached egg, grilled tomato and sprinkled with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I also asked for a side of smoked salmon because I love it! This was a delicious meal!! It contained all of my favourite foods, and it was so fresh and “Energising” ;) I’ll definitely be getting this again.
-My dad is quite the opposite eater from me. He had potato stacks, mushrooms, bacon, avocado and tomato. He enjoyed his hearty meal.
Falafel wrap: I had this for lunch one day, and it was alright. Im not a fan of fried foods, and I didn’t realise that the falafel was fried. Other than that, it was still nice. There were lots of roast vegetables inside, but I did find it really messy to eat!
Grilled salmon salad: This was from their menu. It consisted of a fillet of grilled salmon, roasted kumura chunks, avocado, rested on a bed of salad leaves. It was delicious! The crispy skinned salmon was to die for!
Overall I love Side Track Cafe. I always come here for a meal after walking the mount! As you can tell I love my salmon, and this cafe is always providing me with it in some way!
