If you are looking for some dinner with a real kiwi flair, don't look any further!
With the large variety of offerings on the menu board, the hardest part is making up your mind about what to eat!
I ordered a chicken burger, some fish, kumara fries, a spring roll and a cooked of crab sticks a hot dog and some other bits and pieces to feed a group, and was pleasantly surprised at the price which came in under $50, an amazing bargain.
The store was busy with a bit of a queue (a good sign!) but I was served quickly, and very helpfully! I couldn't decide between the red or purple kumara fries and was recommended to get half and half, what a great way to solve a conflict!
I had a few minutes to pop over the road for a bottle to go with dinner, and it was ready when I returned, which was about 10 minutes. Excellent!
Returning home with the large parcel of food, I was greeted with excitement!
We unwrapped the food to anticipatory murmers and the clatter of plates and the popping of wattles tomato sauce bottle lids.
When revealed there was a moment of silence as we took in the sight before us, just take a look at the photos below to see why, but we were greeted by an incredible aroma and an amazing array of food.
The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly, a good indication of a competent kitchen.
The kumara fries were some of the best we had ever had (I recommend the orange kumara option, crispy and sweet)
My favourite item, though, was the spring roll. It was unlike the others you get from the various chippies around town and was light, fresh, and crisp.
The food was great, the wait was short, the price was cheap. 3 ticks from me! Go for it.
the people are friendly at this old school fish and chip shop. chips are always good and plentiful though the fish batter has been inconsistent. it's the best for me though around tahunanui/stoke
Fast service, good food , pleasant owner & counter staff
