Had their fiori mushrooms and it was good. Mix of mushrooms, poached egg, chorizo, toast with some nice parmesan cheese.

A random choice, because the cafe I usually go to down the road didn’t have any available parking. I ordered the smashed avocados on rye, and it was an okay meal. It came with a kale & beetroot salad, and grilled tomatoes (which made the dish). I would’ve appreciated more avocado in the ricotta-avocado mouse, which only had specks of it, and perhaps more acidity in the dish... But I’m just nitpicking. It was an enjoyable dish, with crispy bread and perfectly-poached eggs. Espresso wasn’t bad either. However, a general grungy interior is a bit of a let-down. With bird-on-a-wire and Takapuna beach cafe nearby, I don’t think I’ll be coming back here again, but it wasn’t a bad experience. And before 10am they also do a 20% discount for food so it was slightly cheaper than the others, and worked out to be just under $20 for my coffee and breakfast dish. Service was good.
The food here is excellent, with a good menu with a few unusual options to spice up your brunch options. Their French toast is done vert well with a good balance of fine flavors. Their beans and bacon bun was a delicious savory breakfast. Their coffee is well made and they cleverly place a plate of small free taste of some of their bakery items so you can try and see of you like. Their service is generally good, but not consistent. They also offer freshly squeezed juices and smoothies which was well above average and not just run of the mill. One of the few places I could go to again and again.
