Lively environment. Lots of places to sit. One of the better options out this neck of the woods. The burger was excellent; just how I like it to be done. Reminds me a bit of Shake Shack in the States. Bun was soft and chewy with a bit of crispness. Patties were delicious without an overly seasoned taste. The fries weren’t anything to write home about. If you want a lot of fries, don’t get a $5 add-on with your burger. Order an entirely separate bowl of them. Much more filling.
The fried chicken was nicely done but the batter didn’t have much flavour. Quality fare though, just rely on the sauce to do the heavy lifting.
Overall a very cool place for few beers and pub style food. They have a some really good drops! The food was pretty good too. We got the chicken burger and the chicken bites, both were cooked and seasoned well. Dog friendly bar too.
A nice bar. One of the Capital's most beloved breweries @parrotdogbeer has come a long way since its garage door fillery days on Vivian St. Now a distinctly 1970s retro, kiwi-as, family- (and dog-) friendly bar in Lyall Bay, @parrotdogbar "Nice" oozes kitsch nostalgia - but still in that low-key, DIY kind of way. It all began in 2011 with 3 uni students named Matt who fast-grew a brand loyalty that enabled crowd-funding of $3million. Despite their rise to fame, the founders' approachable, unpretentious ethos still applies here: come as you are, we have a beer for you.
