I have a new #1. Been here twice and it beats everywhere in terms of quality, atmosphere, service and knowledgeable friendly staff. But the food is a celebration per mouthful, there are no words to describe it's superiority in sight, taste and texture. The experience is orgasmic. The flavour combinations work, and you get the dish served in multiple ways. For instance you don't just get the duck meat, instead you get a variety of the duck on the one plate as a fillet, leg, mousse, sauce, gravy and the veges are cooked in duck fat etc to make full use out of the one ingredient. And the wine matches advised by staff set the mood for an intimate affair between your tastebuds and the pairing at hand. Pierre is the genius behind all this and he has the best staff on his team. Everything was perfection! And this place is so comfortable unlike some of the fancy places that are uptight snobs. Dining here is a delightful pleasure on every level hence it's ranking in my books. My first experience here blew me away and set the benchmark, but I needed to be sure it could consistently deliver the same high standard each time, and the second time round was even better. It has no equal.

the service was great, competent and courteous. The ambient is elegant, tidy&clean and you can breath a warm atmosphere. No kids or noisy people, a good place for a date or for a special occasion.
And the food....oh my.... was simply delicious. Tastes and flavours have literally danced in my mouth. I couldn't believe how much good was the "second" (Chicken with porcini and green beans). The choc dessert was special.
Everything I've tried was amazing ( I couldn't resist and I stole a bite from my husband dishes)
I'm Italian, I love good food and I think this one was one of the best I've ever eaten. I think the chef is a gift for all the Wellingtonians.
My only complain is the place: a small character heritage building is too close to the highway, too far from the foot traffic. From outside no one could believe this is a food-gem. I'm glad my husband and I were enough curious to try this isolated restaurant.
We had our office Christmas Dinner here. The chef produced a really nice degustation menu with some very lovely wines. The restaurant very nicely opened especially for us on a Monday night, which was very much appreciated. Everyone enjoyed their evening and the staff were very attentive. Would very happily return here.
