You know those cafes you walk past and go "No probley not that great". This is one of those. However you will be rewarded with great food and coffee if you give it a chance. I popped in for breakfast before work today. The flat white was very good. Prompt, hot, and lovely. The bagel was perfectly toasted with a good amount of a avocado and tomato slices. Both of which were fresh and tasty, and at just the right stage of ripeness. I will be back for sure. I will say however that it could do with a makeover and more things in the cabinet for people popping in early to get something to take for lunch to eat later at work.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Don't judge a book by its cover. Lombardi's is not the most exciting looking cafe and the name is a tad confusing (it's not Italian), but the food was extremely tasty! Grab a table outside and take in the views of the open fields.
FOOD: I decided to go for the $10 lunch special and had the bacon and egg tart and a coffee. The tart was served with a side salad and topped with a creamy sauce. It was absolutely delicious... The tart was had a lovely smooth, creamy taste which complimented the saltiness of the bacon. Would totally have this again!
COFFEE: strong and very smooth. Just how I like it.
SERVICE: polite and quick to serve.
Even though the cafe lacked ambience or a definitive vibe, the food more than made up for it. If more thought is put into styling the cafe (ditch the name please!) then this could be a place worth venturing out to.

Reading some of the other comments I'm a little embarrassed for this cute little cafe! I found the staff really pleasant and enjoyable to be served by and have always enjoyed the meals that I have when I go there! My only recommendation would be to drop the prices a little as they are on the high side and I would expect to pay that price in Ponsonby or the viaduct
